Our Story
Why Downpour Mountain?
Funny Story. Many years ago when my oldest daughter was around 9 or 10 years old, we came home from the grocery store in the middle of a terrential rain. My daughter and I decide to grab whatever we could carry and make a mad dash to the door. We got soaked!!! Instead of being upset that she got soaking wet, my daughter turned to me and said in some kind of silly voice “Mama, why we got to live on top of Downpour Mountain?” It struck me as so funny that day and to this day is how we still refer to our little homestead on the hill.
My daughter taught me a valuable lesson that day about not sweating the small stuff and finding humor in otherwise un-funny situations. That was one of the funniest moments with my daughter (who is now 22 years old) and to this day, whenever it rains hard she will ask me why we got to live on top of Downpour Mountain.
For me Downpour Mountain is synonomous with having the perserverance, grit, old-fashioned skills and humor to weather life’s storms, both big and small.
